Robert is the project coordinator in the tandem project. He is the contact person for the consultation hour and all other concerns of the tandems. He also organizes the project’s organizational aspects and many leisure activities for our tandems. He likes to do sports and enjoys being outdoors in nature. He also enjoys cooking together or drinking good coffee with loved ones.

Marie Matzen

Marie is the project coordinator in the tandem project and supports the team primarily in the administrative area. She is also the contact person for consultation hours and other matters relating to the project. She likes to spend her free time in nature – preferably by the sea. She also loves to play and is interested in sports, especially soccer.

Sine is the project coordinator in the Ideas Café project. She is the person to contact if you have ideas for events. In summer, she loves to walk along the Kiellinie with a delicious ice cream in her hand.

Lyli Chin

Lyli’s Ideas Café highlights include canoeing, the FLINTA* DJ workshop and the high ropes course and is always happy to hear new ideas. She moved to Kiel from Heidelberg at the end of 2020 to study for her Master’s degree. She loves living by the sea and going for a morning swim in the Baltic Sea in the sunshine. She also enjoys making music and writing creative texts.

Baraa Mamoun

Baraa mainly coordinates the monthly international women’s café and the seminar with the Center for Key Qualifications at Christian Albrechts University. In addition, she represents kulturgrenzenlos on the CAU campus and is your contact person for the international cafés and all matters relating to kgl on Campus. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, traveling and cooking.

Furkan Arslan

Patrycja Ryżek-Onoyiwe

Project-Coordinator –  CoCo – Cooking Connects

Her friends call her Paty. Until June, she led the ‘Grenzenlos with Kids’ project. Now she is part of the ‘CoCo – Cooking connects’ team. Together with Ann-Christin, she coordinates the project and is primarily responsible for planning events and fostering community connections. In her free time, she likes to cook and bake and spends a lot of time outdoors with her son. She likes board games and mystery puzzles. She also loves being around people. Leopard print is Paty’s signature style – she’d cover everything in it if she could.

Ann-Christin Prüße

Project-Coordinator – CoCo – Cooking Connects

Together with Paty, Ann-Christin coordinates the “Cooking Connects” project and is mainly responsible for producing the video podcast. In her free time, she expresses her creative side, meets up with friends, or enjoys spending time with her dog Lilly. On sunny days, she’s drawn to her garden or the Kiellinie – whether with a good book in hand or her favorite podcast in her ears.

Katharina Theune

Kathi joined the full-time team at kulturgrenzenlos in 2020 and is now a volunteer on the board. She is currently self-employed as a social pedagogue and spends her afternoons with her two children. Every now and then, however, a visit to one of Kiel’s cafés with friends is a must! Kathi’s highlights at kulturgrenzenlos were her experiences in tandem, the team training courses and various karaoke evenings.

Lena Stöcker

Lena has been part of the kulturgrenzenlos team since 2017. She used to be part of the full-time team, but is now a volunteer on the board of kulturgrenzenlos. In particular, she is responsible for HR tasks. In addition to kulturgrenzenlos, Lena is also involved in her own company. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family in cafés.

Mahmoud Alhmada

Mahmoud is an engineer by profession and volunteers as a member of our Board of Directors. His responsibilities include personnel management and public relations work, which he uses to represent the club. In addition to his professional activities, Mahmoud is passionate about soccer – both as an active player and as a passionate spectator – and regularly attends live stand-up comedy shows. He is always looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing exciting encounters.

  • What motivates you to work with us?
    I find it very rewarding to get to know new people with very different experiences every week, to facilitate encounters and to see how tandems come together with us. I find this very motivating work.
  • What does intercultural exchange mean to you?
    Regardless of what makes us different, talking to each other and familiarising each other with our own worlds. Every exchange brings valuable new insights that have a positive impact on everyone involved and help us to live in a diverse and open society.
  • A fun fact about you:
    My favourite and most frequent way to get around Kiel is on foot :)

Marie

  • What motivates you to work with us?
    I am motivated by the opportunity to work with the team to create a space in which people from different cultural backgrounds not only meet, but also form valuable connections and friendships. I particularly appreciate the open, appreciative atmosphere at kulturgrenzenlos and the chance to meet new, inspiring people again and again.
  • What does intercultural exchange mean?
    For me, intercultural exchange means bringing people with diverse lifestyles together, learning from each other and being able to broaden your own horizons. When people from different backgrounds share their experiences and knowledge, it not only increases mutual understanding, but also creates a stronger, more inclusive sense of community.
  • A fun fact about you:
    I like to lose myself in thought for hours about completely irrelevant things 🥲/
    I manage to get my clothes dirty in no time at all.

  • What motivates you to work with us?
    I am motivated by promoting an atmosphere of openness and equality and seeing how our tandems quickly find their feet and feel at home in Kiel through encounters and time spent together. It’s great to see how new acquaintances are made and how our tandems’ eyes light up with joy at our events.
  • What does intercultural exchange mean to you?
    Intercultural exchange is the opportunity to interact with people from different cultures on an equal footing. It enables us to learn from each other, break down prejudices and live in an open, diverse society in which everyone can feel comfortable. Such exchanges not only enrich our own lives, but also help us to grow together as a society and broaden our horizons.

    I’ve collected so many travel magnets that I almost bought an extra fridge just for them.

    I love creating spaces where people can share their ideas, wishes, and interests. What I enjoy most is the diverse and respectful exchange that happens on an equal footing.

  • What does intercultural exchange mean to you?To me, intercultural exchange means learning with and from one another. It’s much more than just talking – it’s about laughing together, sharing meals, exchanging interests, and so much more.
  • A fun fact about you:
    I have a Duolingo Streak from over 1200.

Lyli

Lyli is a project coordinator at the Ideas Café and moved to Kiel from Heidelberg at the end of 2020 to study for her Master’s. She loves living by the sea and going for a morning swim in the Baltic Sea when the sun is shining! She also enjoys going to the cinema, making music and writing creative texts.

    I want to stand up for a diverse Kiel. I am convinced that people from different contexts can enrich each other. The more diverse we are as a group, the better!
  • What does intercultural exchange mean to you?
    For me, intercultural exchange means sharing individual experiences and learning from and valuing these different perspectives. It is important to me that it is an exchange at eye level and that no background is prioritised over the other.

  • What motivates you to work with us?
    Firstly, I find the working atmosphere incredibly relaxed and healthy, everyone supports and inspires each other. It’s also a pleasure to get to know other people from different backgrounds, to work with them and to develop myself further. I have a second home here, where I feel at home.
  • What does intercultural exchange mean?
    For me, intercultural exchange means experiences, cultures and traditions, full of respect and understanding without prejudice or favoritism. For me, it means accepting each other and learning something new from all over the world every day.

    I sleep without a pillow / All my pets have passed away, I’m trying plants now.

    I really appreciate the pleasant working environment, the good atmosphere and the great team spirit with my colleagues. I also enjoy the exchange with people from different countries and cultures. The diversity of traditions and perspectives inspires me and makes working together exciting and enriching. I really enjoy creating an environment in which everyone feels welcome and can talk to each other.

    Intercultural exchange means that people from different cultures communicate with each other, share their experiences and perspectives and learn from each other. The aim is to promote understanding and respect for each other and to appreciate diversity.

Patrycja

Paty has been leading the ‘CoCo-Cooking Connects’ since March 2025. Previous, she worked at ‘Grenzenlos mit Kids’ project. She moved to Kiel in 2019 from Poznan (Poland), where she had studied, and started her family here. In her free time, she loves to cook and bake and is always interested in the latest developments in the world of science.

  • What motivates you to join us?
    The opportunity to work in a dynamic team that is characterized by energy, understanding and support is a dream that I have cherished for a long time. I want everyone to have access to such an enriching social network. My goal is to create a community of mutual understanding where young parents from different backgrounds come together. Parenthood is a unique journey that we can experience and create together.
  • What does intercultural exchange mean to you?
    For me, intercultural exchange is a valuable opportunity to learn and grow from each other. It not only promotes understanding of our differences, but also highlights the similarities that unite us: the passion to discover and experience new things. In a world full of diverse countries, religions and cultures, there is a place for every perspective. We are the new generation – a generation united in diversity. The more we learn about each other, the richer our lives become.

  • What motivates you to work with us?
    I particularly enjoy working with people. I think the idea of a meeting project where people from different cultural backgrounds come together is particularly important for breaking down prejudices and helping to create an open, diverse society where everyone feels welcome. Especially in the current socio-political climate, it is important to me to promote diverse and peaceful coexistence.
  • What does intercultural exchange mean to you?
    For me, intercultural exchange means daring to look beyond your own horizons, approaching people and their lives with an open mind, and taking on new perspectives.

  • Was motiviert dich, bei uns mitzuarbeiten?

    Mir macht besonders die Arbeit mit Menschen Spaß. Die Idee eines Begegnungsprojekts, bei dem Menschen mit unterschiedlichen kulturellen Hintergründen aufeinandertreffen finde ich besonders wichtig, um Vorurteile abzubauen und dazu beizutragen, gemeinsam eine offene, bunte Gesellschaft zu gestalten, in der sich jede Person willkommen fühlt. Insbesondere im momentanen gesellschaftspolitischen Klima ist es mir wichtig, mich für ein diverses und friedliches Miteinander einzusetzen.

  • Was bedeutet dir interkultureller Austausch?

    Interkultureller Austausch bedeutet für mich, sich zu trauen, über den eigenen Tellerrand hinauszublicken, offen auf Menschen und ihre Lebenswelten zuzugehen und neue Perspektiven einzunehmen.

    Meine kleine Mopshündin Lilly wird euch evtl. auch im Büro oder bei gemeinsamen Projekten über den Weg laufen.
