The Ideas Café was part of the joint project Network Integration Empowerment #WIRKLICHMACHEN and co-financed by the European Union.
We created opportunities for encounters between people with and without refugee or migrant background and actively shape intercultural togetherness in Kiel!

Here, we brought together young families from different backgrounds. With family cafés and excursions, we promoted intercultural exchange and the participation of parents and children in Kiel.
The project ran from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.
The Blickwinkel project gave interested individuals the opportunity to become part of our intercultural media team. Through photo and video projects, we showcased the positive coexistence of different cultures in Kiel. We also launched a podcast together, in which people shared their experiences and opened up new perspectives. Everyone was welcome to join our media team, regardless of whether they had previous experience in photography or filmmaking.

We cooked together and learned many new recipes and met new people. We got talking while eating and drinking together with the mobile cooking station.
The project ran from June first 2022 to 31st of May 2023.
Whether art, culture, or sports—in the Ideenwerk project, participants could get involved and contribute their own ideas to kulturgrenzenlos. For example, anyone who had always wanted to organize a festival, start a theater group, or participate in a project—but didn’t know how, where, or with whom—was in the right place here. We supported the participants in turning their ideas into their own leisure projects.

Mir macht besonders die Arbeit mit Menschen Spaß. Die Idee eines Begegnungsprojekts, bei dem Menschen mit unterschiedlichen kulturellen Hintergründen aufeinandertreffen finde ich besonders wichtig, um Vorurteile abzubauen und dazu beizutragen, gemeinsam eine offene, bunte Gesellschaft zu gestalten, in der sich jede Person willkommen fühlt. Insbesondere im momentanen gesellschaftspolitischen Klima ist es mir wichtig, mich für ein diverses und friedliches Miteinander einzusetzen.
Interkultureller Austausch bedeutet für mich, sich zu trauen, über den eigenen Tellerrand hinauszublicken, offen auf Menschen und ihre Lebenswelten zuzugehen und neue Perspektiven einzunehmen.
