Dania und Friederike

These are Dania and Friedi. They've been a tandem for 9 months now. Friedi studies at the university and first learned about kulturgrenzenlos e.V. in 2021, but only signed up for the tandem project the following year because she didn't have the time before. “Now it has really become a part of our daily lives,” she says with a smile. Dania got to know the tandem project through her brother, who also participated.

As a tandem, they enjoy walking along the Kiellinie, going for coffee or tea, and just chatting, Friedi reports. “You’ve also been over for lunch with me and once during Ramadan,” Dania adds happily.

When the two of them first met during our tandem introduction meeting, Friedi’s impression was thoughtful, “We’re not super similar, but rather super different, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I wasn’t sure if it would work, like if we’d understand each other.” She continues, “We are also really different, but we still have a similar vibe.”

The two have already learned a lot from each other. For instance, Friedi reveals how beautiful and impressive she finds Dania’s bravery in visiting cafés and new places alone at first. “Sometimes it really helps to do things alone for yourself, though of course, it’s also about doing a lot together, which we enjoy,” she adds with a laugh.

In the future, Friedi wants to learn even more Arabic from Dania, and Dania would like to offer a workshop. Maybe on cooking, but that’s not quite decided yet.

  • Rolle im Projekt:
Projektkoordinatorin im Projekt “CoCo – Cooking Connects”
  • Was motiviert dich, bei uns mitzuarbeiten?

  • Was bedeutet dir interkultureller Austausch?
