An association is a group of people who pursue a common goal. To this end, the association organises activities, e.g. sport or intercultural exchange. An association should exist permanently, not just for a short time. The people in the association are called members. kulturgrenzenlos is a registered association, which is what ‘e.V.’ stands for. A registered association has special rights and obligations. Among other things, the association must not be there for the members to earn money together in order to get richer. Otherwise the association would be a company. Important decisions in the association can be discussed at the general meeting. The board is also elected there.

The board are members of the association who are authorised to speak on behalf of the association or sign important documents. At kulturgrenzenlos e.V., at least three people must be elected to the board. The board works on a voluntary basis. Here you can see who is currently on the board. Our board has an overview of the finances, is present at events and is responsible for personnel issues. This means that the board is the point of contact for the full-time staff.

Full-time can be seen as the counterpart to honorary. We all represent the common values of the organisation and pursue the same vision. The full-time staff do this through their paid work in the projects. In this way, they support the volunteers and promote voluntary work in the city of Kiel. Here you can see who is currently in full-time employment. You can find information about our projects below in the FAQs or …

At kulturgrenzenlos, a democratic decision-making culture and cooperation at eye level are very important to us. That’s why we don’t have a boss, but an organisation team. This is where the full-time staff, board members and other interested volunteers come together to discuss and decide on topics. For example, we discuss the content of the projects, new funding applications, the planning of festivals or considerations regarding the organisation of kulturgrenzenlos e.V. It is important to us to give all opinions space before we make decisions together. We meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month in the Alte Mu, online or hybrid.

In this section on the organisation structure, you will find two opportunities to get involved as a volunteer: on the board and in the organisation team. You can also get involved in the tandem project as a tandem partner, plan events in the ideas team and become part of a cooking couple at CoCo. You can contact us in person at the office, by email at info@kulturgrenzenlos.de, by phone/Whatsapp on 0177/4670967 or on Instagram and Facebook.

Our tandem project in Kiel brings together young people with and without refugee or migration experience – under the motto ‘Integration through friendship’. By meeting in tandem, friendships can develop between two people who might not otherwise have met in their lives. The focus is on dialogue at eye level and joint leisure activities. You can go to a café together, cook together, go to the cinema or simply sit together and chat. In addition, kulturgrenzenlos organises many activities, for example volleyball, women’s sports or games afternoons. In this way, we are committed to peaceful coexistence and solidarity.

We always try to find a tandem partner who is a good match for you. That’s why an introductory meeting takes place before the tandem placement. We get to know you in this conversation. You tell us what you enjoy doing, what you are studying or where you work. You describe your wishes and expectations of the tandem. We will then look for a person who matches your information. Most of our tandems get on very well. If your ideas don’t match, you can talk to us. We will then find a solution together.

We want our tandems to be a good match. To make this happen, we would like to get to know you first. In a personal meeting, you tell us what you like to do, what your job is or what is important to you in a tandem. We will then look for a tandem partner who is a good match for you.

Our tandem partners all volunteer with us. Everyone has different amounts of free time. Many of our tandem partners are students, many work and some do both. Therefore, it can sometimes happen that no meeting is possible. It is important that you tell your tandem partner openly what you want. Be honest with each other. If you realise that your wishes don’t match, talk to us about it. We’ll find a solution together.
Everyone takes part voluntarily – whether you have a lot or little time, everyone is welcome.

We want our tandem partners to be a good match. That’s why we take our time to find the right person for you. Sometimes someone with similar interests has just signed up and things happen quickly. Sometimes, however, only people with or without refugee or migration experience have registered. Then we have to wait until someone comes along who suits you.

Your tandem partner is not replying to your messages? First check whether they have your correct mobile phone number or email address. Perhaps they simply don’t have much time at the moment or there has been a misunderstanding. Be open and tell your tandem partner that you would like them to write to you. Also ask if there has been a misunderstanding between you.
If you still don’t receive a reply, write to the kulturgrenzenlos team. We will then find a solution together.

We will look for a suitable tandem partner for you as quickly as possible. We try to ensure that you don’t have to wait long. Sometimes a lot of new people register with us. In this case, you may find a Tandem partner quickly. Sometimes, however, fewer people register with us and then you will unfortunately have to wait a little longer.

We want our tandem partners to be a good match. That’s why we take our time to find someone who suits you. Maybe someone with similar interests has just signed up and it happens very quickly. Sometimes there are no people with similar interests or only people with or without refugee/migration experience sign up. In this case, we have to wait until someone suitable registers.

You decide what you do in your tandem. You have the freedom to choose your own activities. We also have some suggestions for you, which you are welcome to use. You will receive a tandem pass from us, which you can use to have a drink or watch a film at our partners in Kiel at a reduced price, for example. Our partners include cafés, a cinema, the Mediendom and a climbing garden.
We also organise events every week at kulturgrenzenlos. We meet up for a get-together, play volleyball or football together, do women’s sports or meet up for an afternoon of games. There are always lots of great offers. Have a look at our calendar!

If you are interested in a tandem, please fill out the registration form. You will then get to know us in our consultation hour. A few days or weeks after the introductory meeting, you will receive an email from us with the contact details of your tandem partner. You can then get to know your tandem partner at a meeting with us.

It’s a shame that you don’t get on well. Of course, this can happen when two strangers meet. It doesn’t always result in a friendship. Perhaps there is a misunderstanding that we can clear up in a conversation. Write us an email or come to our consultation hours and talk to us about it. You can come to us together or alone.
If you no longer want to be a tandem, we will dissolve the tandem. That’s a shame, but no problem. Perhaps you would like to try again with another tandem partner. That is also possible. You may then have to wait a few weeks or months until we have found a new tandem partner for you.
You are of course always welcome to attend our various events. Perhaps you would also like to take part in our ideas café, for example.

The Ideas Café project is a project in which you plan and organise events together with other people. Do you have ideas for events or workshops? Would you like to meet new people? Then join the Ideas Café project. Our aim is for many new people to get to know each other and exchange ideas at the events. Examples of events from the Ideas Café project are: the Bollywood / K-Pop dance workshop, canoeing and the karaoke evening.

You don’t need any experience. If you would like to plan and organise events together with other people, then just come to our meetings or to our events. We can get to know each other there.

We call our team of volunteers who plan and organise events the Ideas Team. You can join the meetings at any time and plan ideas together with us.

At our ideas team meeting, we all discuss together what the next events are and what still needs to be done for them. We allocate tasks and liaise with each other. We also plan the next events for the future and form small groups that focus on planning these events.

We meet once a month at Semikolon in the Alte Mu. You can find the dates for our meetings on our website in the event calendar or on social media in the stories on Instagram or Facebook. We’re always happy to meet new people. So feel free to drop by!

Participation in the events, as well as taking part in the Ideas Café, is completely free for everyone.

Of course! In our idea team meetings, small groups are formed for each idea, which then plan and realise the event together. This means that you don’t have to come up with an idea yourself. You can simply join an event idea or a group that you would like to support with the organisation. It is always better if several people are involved in the planning and implementation.

Lyli and Theynushya are your contacts in the Ideas Café project. You can reach them per email: info@kulturgrenzenlos.de or ideencafe@kulturgrenzenlos.de

Fancy getting involved in the ideas team? You can find the dates for the ideas team meetings on instagram and in the event calendar here on our website.
Or join our ideas café WhatsApp group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/Eo1r2fajEfMFT9dEejzAvH
This group is made up of all the volunteers from the Ideas Team and us two project coordinators (Theynushya and Lyli). We exchange information about upcoming events and organise dates for the next Ideas Team meetings. In this group you will get all the important information.
Do you have an idea? Write to us at ideencafe@kulturgrenzenlos.de or info@kulturgrenzenlos.de – we’ll be happy to make an appointment to talk about it.
We look forward to getting to know you and supporting you in realising your idea!

The project was set up to bring together young families – both with and without experience of flight and migration – and to promote intercultural exchange. We create a place where everyone can feel comfortable and share their experiences. The children have the opportunity to get to know each other and play together, while the parents can talk about parenthood in a respectful environment. At the same time, a valuable space is created for the exchange of cultural experiences and perspectives, where all participants can spend quality time together. We focus on what we have in common rather than what makes us different.
Every family is welcome to take part in the Family Café! As no registration is required, you can decide spontaneously whether it suits your family and simply come along. However, prior registration is required for the Family Outing. You can find the registration form on our website in the event calendar under the respective event description.
All children, regardless of their age, are welcome! You are welcome to come with your children, whether they are small or teenagers – we have plenty of space, lots of toys and board games. We also offer creative activities for young and old. Loving childcare is also available to support parents during the event.
Just come along to our events! If you like, you can also bring along your ideas – we are always happy to hear from you and think together about what we can plan for the future.
At the weekend Family Cafés, children can play while their parents chat over a cup of coffee and cake. At each meeting, we offer creative activities for young and old. We also organise excursions together, where we can get to know Kiel in a completely new way and discover new neighbourhoods

Of course you can! We have an established group of parents and children who regularly attend the Family Café, but we are always happy to welcome new people! Everyone is welcome to join at any time.

Yes, participation in our events is free of charge. We provide drinks, cakes and snacks for the Family Café. For the Family Excursion, we cover the travel and admission costs. All you need to bring is a good mood!
Your contact person for Grenzenlos mit Kids is our project coordinator Paty. If you have any questions or would like to share an idea, please write to: info@kulturgrenzenlos.de
kgl on campus is a programme organised in cooperation with the International Center of the Christian-Albrechts-University. It takes place both on campus and in the Alte Mu (the association’s headquarters). The aim is to create a place where students and prospective students with and without migration or refugee experience can come together. One part of kgl on campus is the international language and women’s cafés, which take place monthly.
At the International Language Café, you can chat in different languages and choose which language you would like to speak. Games are played, snacks are eaten and there are discussions on various topics. You also have the opportunity to meet new people and learn more about different cultures and languages.
The International Women’s Café is a programme for women only. Here you can get to know women from different cultures and countries. It takes place in a ‘safe space’, i.e. a protected environment. The participants talk about interesting topics, do handicrafts and get creative together. You can also contribute your own ideas and suggestions for topics.
There are no fixed requirements in the International Language Café – all languages are welcome. This also applies to the International Women’s Café. No matter what language you speak, you are welcome to join in and exchange ideas with others.

  • Rolle im Projekt:
Projektkoordinatorin im Projekt “CoCo – Cooking Connects”
  • Was motiviert dich, bei uns mitzuarbeiten?

  • Was bedeutet dir interkultureller Austausch?
